Ideas for a fairer Scotland

Last year I was elected in a postal ballot to represent Labour Party members from Glasgow South and Glasgow South West constituencies on our Scottish Policy Forum.

The road to the 2011 manifesto is well underway. At Scottish Labour conference this October, we will agree the final year policy documents that will form the basis for next May's Scottish Parliament election manifesto. However, it isn’t too late to send in your response to our second year policy consultation.

Due to the General Election, the opportunity to take part in the consultation was extended to Friday 30 July. Constituency parties received paper copies of the consultation document and have been meeting to form their own replies.

To send in your own individual views, please download Ideas for a fairer Scotland and feed in your own response.

  1. Idea #1: independence for Scotland, which would allow us to make best use of our own resources to target more effectively the poverty and inequality which exists on our doorstep.

  2. Our neighbours should always be more important than our nationality.
Thanks Cllr Belle, but we shouldn't break up a union that has served Scotland well for centuries.

I am so confused by these articles

This is the same party that gave Edinburgh and Scotland a great big mess of a parliament that cost us a fortune

This is the same party that will cost my grandchildren so much that I cannot see just how they will be able to afford to staff the School and hospital buildings that they are paying for

The same party which left Scotland to pay the bill for many years to come

The same party that left Edinburgh council with what looked like a fifty million pound black hole that just got deeper and deeper

This is the same health department that left my cancer ridden terminally ill son lying on a trolley in a corridor for fifteen hours with no fluids/pain killers/insulin/no bags emptied, urine leaking all over his clothes and his trolley/no food/oxygen or inhalers for his asthma.
I am sure you know the party that I mean the ones that decided it was OK to allow a young man to die in this way
A shame for you he lived long enough to tell the tale
Then hired 6 liaison officers to talk to patients I assume this was to inform them of the reasons they were being left in pain and with no dignity to die.

We in Scotland do not want these actions repeated

The reason the Scottish government is struggling is the backlash from your actions when you were in government

We hope you never get back into power

  4. "we shouldn't break up a union that has served Scotland well for centuries."

Mr Curran you sound like a communist party Apparatchik giving the party line. A tired line at that.

The people of Scotland are more than capable of bettering their country through independence - the normal state of a nation.

I know that to be an elected representative within the labour party, you must be nothing more than a yes man, but surely even you can see that the people deserve more than this?
